Schachklub Neuburg, Neuburg a.d. Donau – December 13, 2025

What a day of chess!

It was a banner day for SK Freising as our youth delegation traveled to Neuburg an der Donau for the latest rounds of the U12-Kreisliga. Fielding three separate teams—SK Freising 1, 2, and 3—our club showed incredible depth and fighting spirit against top regional competition.

SK Freising 1: A Perfect Storm The story of the day was undoubtedly the dominance of our first team. They were in imperious form across all three rounds, barely giving their opponents a chance to breathe. In Round 7, they started strong with a decisive 3-1 victory over the hosts, SK Neuburg. But they were just getting warmed up. In Round 8, the team delivered a flawless 4-0 shutout against VfB Friedrichshofen SAbt 1, followed immediately by another crushing 4-0 victory against VfB Friedrichshofen SAbt 2 in Round 9. Scoring 11 out of 12 possible board points is a rare achievement, and the team deserves massive credit for their focus.

Player Spotlight: Anish Pujar While the entire first squad played beautifully, Anish Pujar deserves a special mention for being the team’s anchor. Anish was in peak form, delivering a perfect 3/3 performance. He secured a crucial win with the Black pieces against the hosts in the morning, followed by a clinical win with White in Round 8. He completed his hat-trick in the final round, converting his advantage smoothly to ensure the team finished with a clean sheet. His reliability on the board gave the rest of the squad the confidence to push for wins on the top boards.

SK Freising 2 & 3: Grit and Determination Our second team also had a fantastic outing. After a walkover win in Round 7, they proved their strength on the board in Round 8 by defeating the hosts SK Neuburg 3-1. They finished the day with a nail-biting match against VfB Friedrichshofen SAbt 1, narrowly losing 1½ – 2½ in a fight that could have gone either way.

SK Freising 3 faced a tougher schedule but showed great resilience. They started with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against SK Abensberg/TSV Mainburg 1. Although Rounds 8 and 9 ended in losses against strong Kösching and Rohrbach squads, the experience gained today will be invaluable for their future development.

Overall, it was a proud day for the club. We are returning home with heavy points and high spirits!

Go SK Freising! ♟️
